Who They Are and What They Do

 

 The Gateway Sisters of Indulgence, "Abbey of the Gateway city" St. Louis Missouri, is an all Volunteer Not-for-Profit Organization. They are a Missionary Order of an International Order of Sisterhoods of the 21st Century Drag Nuns.  They don't mock nuns, "THEY ARE NUNS'. They have taken on that role for the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender and Gay Friendly Individuals within our community. The Sisters not only enjoy the work of Fund Raising for Charity but they all have FUN doing it.

 

The Gateway Sisters of Indulgence started their missionary journey in 2006 and were officially recognized on April 10th 2007, by their Mother House and founders of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Inc in 1979, located in San Francisco California. The Gateway Sisters of Indulgence are working their way on becoming a Fully Professed House of Sisters ( Black Veils ) of the world wide order.

 

The Gateway Sisters of Indulgence members are all local to the St. Louis area and each member brings their own professional occupational skills, knowledge, community involvements, club involvements, talents and energy to help make the Sisters who they are today. The members of the Gateway Sisters of Indulgence and global Houses are from the LGBT and straight communities, males and females individuals who are either from the Leather community, Cowboys/Cowgirls, drag queens/kings, you name it, they have them as members. The Gateway Sisters of Indulgence do not discriminate membership due to Sexual Orientation, Fetishes, Marital Status, National Origin, Race, Physical Limitations, Religious beliefs.

 

The Gateway Sisters of Indulgence help their local LGBT and Straight community by raising much needed funds for Local Charities and Not-for-Profit Organizations under the 501 © 3 Internal Revenue Code, the Sisters and Guards help raise funds through Drag Activism, Public Manifestation and Stage productions and by fostering a collaboration between other local LGBT Non-Profit organizations for the common good of our community in St. Louis. They regularly are seen helping other organizations in their fund raising events, like Doorways "Red Party", Saint Louis Effort for Aids " Dining Out for Life", The Court of Many Rivers King Louis XIV, The Show Me Bears auction during "Hibearnation 2007", as well as manifesting doing their own events in their community for the Sisters Charity fund. Their home bar is "Just John" (formally Freddie's) on Manchester.

They have participated in several events over the last two years in raising money for PROJECT ARK, a local service organization that serves children and their families affected by HIV/AIDS.  Current information regarding the Gateway Sisters of Indulgence can be found on their website, www.gsoi-stl.org.

 

The Sisters and Guards take vows  "Dedicated to the Promulgation of Universal Joy and the Expiation of Stigmatic Guilt, Public Manifestation, Habitual Perpetration, Community Service and Outreach by Protecting, Promoting Human and Civil Rights" and respect for the individuals within our community.

 

The Sisters and Guards are not your usual drag queens/kings community celebrities that we see today.  Their unique uniforms/attire identify them with the global community of nuns.  The white face makeup identifies them with the Sisterhood around the world.  They represent not just their local group of Sisters, but also the entire world wide orders of Sisters, that would explain why they wear the festive white face makeup, not only do each house's of Sisters and Guards wear their own creative unique habits and wimples which signify which house they are from, but they all share and take pride in the International look of the Sisterhood by wearing the white face makeup that the global LGBT and Straight communities recognize.

 

The Red habits ( Attire/Uniforms ), Wimples ( Head gear ), White Veils ( Represents them as Novice Sisters ) and the White face makeup that the Gateway Sisters of Indulgence wear and take pride in are NOT COSTUMES! The attire they wear are the official uniforms which signify their own unique look and distinguishes them from other world wide orders of the Sisterhood.

 

Yes, there are more Sisters and Guards located in different locations of the United States. Currently there are 11 Fully Professed Houses in the United States with 2 Missions and about 14 Fully Professed House's throughout different parts of other countries. There are over 600 members across the U.S and around the globe and they all share the same vows of "Dedicated to the Promulgation of Universal Joy" and the "Expiation of Stigmatic Guilt", "Public Manifestation", "Habitual Perpetration".

 

So if you see a Sister/Guard out in Public or in your local bar or establishment looking fabulous, she/he is only Spreading Universal Joy, having a good time and it may be a coincidence at times, she/he may be raising funds for Charity all at the same time
